| Gmail | To open an account click here. | You can keep all your mail and contacts on the Web, search them and access them from wherever you are. Free. Gmail can also be used for storing files. The simplest way to do this is to mail yourself the file with a good hook in the Subject line (for example, Files), so that you can create a label to organize the archive. Also, when subscribing to sites or fora, you can reply to the introductory message, changing the address to your own address, and write whatever particulars you want to make a record of. With a proper label (such as Registrations), you will have all those messages in just one place. Its spam-blocker is excellent. If you use Firefox, your Gmail account may be used for file storage. Get the nifty Gmail Space extension. Gmail also offers multilingual spellcheck! Just check the Auto option under Check spelling. See an excellent review of Gmail's capabilities by Adam Pash. |
| Yahoo Mail | Most of the functionality outlined above, minus the space. Look and feel of Microsoft Outlook. Need a Yahoo! ID. Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ | Free. There are paid versions too. |
